My friend David Taylor, over at David’s Blog of Common Sense, has a new post entitled Where the Republican Party Fails… in which he has some interesting insight on some things we’ve already discussed here. David’s a very loyal Republican, and it’s great to see him point out some flaws here. And I have to agree - John McCain’s concession speech was amazing.

I’ve been a huge fan of Firefly, the TV series, for a year or two now. For those who don’t know, Firefly is a futuristic “Space Western” with gunfights, horse-riding, and spaceships. A very cool combination if you ask me… Anyway, I thought the series was great, but at the behest of my dear wife have avoided the feature length movie and sequel, Serenity, due to the death of “all of the best character” and the fact that “Joss Whedon totally screwed up the story.”
Well, I would like to personally apologize to Joss Whedon and any of his fans who were offended at my unwarranted hatred of Serenity. I finally actually saw Serenity last week and it is a great movie, and a great conclusion to a great story. Granted, it wasn’t as good as the rest of the series, but I found no major flaws with the movie. Plus, it’s important to remember that this is Joss Whedon’s farewell to Firefly…not just another episode or the beginning of a movie trilogy.
So if you haven’t seen Firefly, I highly recommend you purchase, rent, or borrow the series. (I’ve got it and the movie if you want to borrow it…) Then be sure to read the comics (again, I have copies to borrow), and don’t be afraid to watch the movie. Actually, you may want to watch the series twice, just to be sure that you truly fall in love with all of the awesome characters in Firefly before you see what happens to them in Serenity.

Looks like the wife and I are finally getting a chance to go down do Chuck Towne, SC. I’ve been wanting to go for a while, but gas has been too expensive for a day trip, and we’ve been really busy since our trip last year.
Don’t you just love it when friends cancel plans? I love spontaneity!

Well, I actually ended up getting a campaign email from John McCain…how the heck did he even get my email address? I decided to not vote for “the lesser of two evils” by voting Obama, and instead chose the Constitution Party’s candidate, Chuck Baldwin, who actually wants to defend the Constitution as our Founding Fathers intended.
I also find it strikingly appropriate that yesterday was November 4th, largely because today is November 5th. Here’s why:
- Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
- The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
- I can think of no reason
- Why the Gunpowder Treason
- Should ever be forgot.

Holy Crap! It’s only a few hours ’til election day! I’m soooo excited! Every time I go to vote, I get this awesome feeling deep down in my gut. It’s warm and fuzzy, the same as I get when I do a really good deed like helping someone when I shouldn’t have to, or when I’m about to go on vacation and I’m really anxious/excited. I think it’s also partially hoping that I do the right thing…not just for me but for the good of the people.
This time, however, it’s a little different. This time…I don’t know who to vote for! I really like Ron Paul–the good Doctor has a lot of great ideas, but he doesn’t have a chance. The sad thing is that people might actually like him if they actually understood the constitution and if they actually took the time to listen to the things he had to say.
After Ron Paul I like Obama, but the more I read about him the more I find I don’t really like all that much. At one point this year he was actually at the top of my list. After Obama I like McCain. Honestly, there really are some things I like about McCain. But if I count issue by issue I think Obama still wins.
Given that South Carolina is probably going straight McCain and given that my vote won’t matter that much anyway, I’d like to announce that my vote is for sale to the highest bidder, or to whichever side does NOT call me and ask for my vote tomorrow…assuming that’s not illegal, etc.

I opened/installed this blog a while back, and since then I’ve been trying to decide what to do with it. Should this be a political blog? I don’t really follow politics all that much… Maybe this should be a diary in which I post random thoughts everyday? But I’m not that diligent. This post will be political in nature, and we’ll see where the others take us.
I just got back over here from Josh’s Blog, Howl, in which he writes his last political post before the election. I really liked what he had to say there, and suggest you take a look at it. Essentially, he suggests that the GOP/Republican party has really gone downhill, and he gives a brief political history of the US starting in the 1980’s.
Furthermore, I would like to add to his ideas by saying that I would like to see *multiple* major political parties, like Canada. I believe they currently have 5 parties with somewhat equal representation in parliament, along with more smaller parties. George Washington warned us about becoming a bipartisan nation…too bad we’re all too stupid on average to have more that just 2 boxes in which to shove every politician.
